Tetra Pond MediFin was specially developed for use against the most common diseases of ornamental fish in garden ponds and is therefore versatile. Whether your fish are suffering from parasitic infections such as Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Costia, Chilodonella or Trichodina or are affected by bacterial skin infections and fin rot - Tetra Pond MediFin can help. It is also suitable for treating wounds and various types of external injuries. One of the outstanding features of Tetra Pond MediFin is its ability to disinfect garden pond water, making it an excellent choice for preventative care.  Important:  This veterinary medicine is marketed in accordance with the Small Animal Exemption Scheme and is intended for animal treatment only. Please refer to the instruction label before use. Do not use for fish intended for human consumption. For garden pond treatment only. Keep this product out of reach of children. Store away from heat or direct sunlight and do not store above 25 °C. The shelf life after opening is six months—do not use after the expiry date. Please note the following safety instructions: Intolerances may occur with cartilaginous fish (Chondrichthyes) and invertebrates. Snails and mussels as well as the affected fish species should therefore be excluded from treatment. You should refrain from using the product in the following cases: if you are hypersensitive to one or more of the active ingredients (see package leaflet); if the oxygen concentration in the garden pond is below 5 mg/l; if there is already easily recognizable damage to the gills of your pond fish. When using Tetra Pond MediFin, avoid contact with skin, mucous membranes and eyes as well as oral intake and then wash your hands with soap and water. If you accidentally come into contact with your eyes, wash your eyes immediately with clean running water. The product should not be administered by pregnant women. The veterinary medicinal product is strongly coloring. Therefore, avoid contact with your clothing. Heavily contaminated clothing should be changed immediately and washed before being worn again. To minimize harmful effects on the environment, you should filter the pond water with activated carbon after treatment and before changing the water.  You can use Tetra Pond MediFin before and after your fish begin their resting phase or when introducing new fish into your pond. However, it is important to note that Tetra Pond MediFin should not be used with other medications. It works best alone but can be safely combined with other Tetra Pond products. For best results, follow the package instructions: Shake the bottle well before use and add 10 ml of Tetra Pond MediFin per 230 L of garden pond water. Make sure to distribute the product evenly in the water, for example with the help of a stick. The treatment cycle lasts between 4 and 7 days and begins with a single dosage on the first day. As the treatment progresses, you will notice how the remedy develops its effect. If you are treating Ichthyophthirius (“white spot disease”), repeat the application five days after the first dose. After the application is complete, filter the water with activated carbon and make sure your filter is not heavily contaminated. Since most diseases are caused by poor water quality, Tetra recommends checking water parameters regularly, e.g. with the Tetra Pond Test 7in1. Your pet retailer can offer you advice. In the event of an overdose, Tetra recommends changing 50% of the water and additionally filtering it with activated carbon. During treatment, you should keep the filter running in a container separate from the garden pond in order to preserve the microorganisms present in the filter. Additional aeration of the pond during this time is also recommended, e.g. with the help of the Tetra Pond APK 400. If aeration is not possible without an active filter, the device can be operated without filter material to ensure sufficient water movement. In this case, the filter material can be stored cool in a container with pond water. During treatment with Tetra Pond MediFin, avoid using UV clarifiers or activated carbon to filter the water.
