Optimum algae control: algae in an aquarium are not only unsightly, they can also inhibit the growth of water plants and upset the biological balance in the aquarium on a long-term basis. Tetra AlgoStop depot* prevents the growth of all algae species in medium to large aquariums with a capacity of 40 litres or more. Thanks to the depot formula, the highly concentrated ingredient is released slowly, ensuring long-term prevention of algae growth (for around 4 weeks). At the same time, Tetra AlgoStop depot is gentle for all aquarium inhabitants, plants and microorganisms if used as indicated. The highly concentrated ingredient actively attacks the algae’s metabolism and effectively prevents algae growth. The product does not discolour the aquarium water. Tetra AlgoStop depot is suitable for all freshwater aquariums. When using this product, the aquarium needs to be aerated, for example using a Tetra APS aquarium air pump, to ensure a sufficient oxygen supply. Dead algae should preferably be removed mechanically, with a net, so that they do not have a negative impact on the water quality. After treatment, to prevent new algae growth in the long term, the algae nutrients phosphate and nitrate should be reduced, e.g. with Tetra EasyBalance. To tackle acute cases of algae, special anti-algae agents which release their active ingredient quickly can also be used, such as Tetra AlguMin* or Tetra Algizit*.
