More information
The powerful Tetra FilterJet aquarium filter is available in three different sizes for aquariums from 50 to 230 L. It cleans the water thoroughly thanks to a combination of mechanical and biological filtering. This way, it removes both large and small dirt particles from the aquarium water to create the right biological balance for an intact eco system. The Tetra FilterJet features a fine and a coarse foam that can be easily exchanged. In case of cloudy water you can use the fine foam for fast cleaning, e.g. after tank setup. The coarse foam is perfect for continuous operation, ensuring effective filtration at all times. Mechanical filtering eliminates large impurities from the water; for example, it can suck up sludge from the substrate as well as suspended solids such as algae and dead plant material. In parallel nitrifying filter bacteria care for the biological filtration in your aquarium. These useful bacteria settle on the filter substrate and break down harmful ammonia and nitrite into nitrate, which is part of the natural degradation process within aquariums. Another advantage of the Tetra FilterJet internal aquarium filter is that it is impressively quiet while being powerful enough to enrich the water with oxygen. It is also easy to assemble to your aquarium from different angles via the suction cup holders or the bracket. The adjustable outlet nozzle ensures optimum water circulation control so that the entire aquarium is evenly aerated. Additionally, the filter sponge is simple to clean, substantially reducing maintenance time. However, you should not clean the filter material with hot water as this would harm the useful filter bacteria that settle in the filter. Likewise, you should never use chemical agents to clean the filter. To protect the filter bacteria population in the long term, we recommend that you do not clean the filter and carry out a partial water change at the same time. Tetra FilterJet is also ideal for shrimps and doesn't harm jouvenile fish or small species.

FAQs
What aquarium sizes is the Tetra FilterJet suitable for?
The Tetra FilterJet comes in three different sizes and is therefore suitable for aquariums from 50 to 230 liters.
- Tetra FilterJet 400 – for aquariums from 50 L to 120 L
- Tetra FilterJet 600 – for aquariums from 120 L to 170 L
- Tetra FilterJet 900 – for aquariums from 170 L to 230 L
Yes, the Tetra FilterJet is designed to be user-friendly and can be easily installed. You can attach the filter to the aquarium glass with the suction cup holder or use the bracket for hanging on the edge of the aquarium from three different angles. A detailed instruction manual is included with the product to assist you in the installation process.
Check plug and/or power supply. Ensure that complete submersion of the pump is guaranteed. Check motor/rotor for blockages caused by coarse dirt particles. If your problem requires further assistance, feel free to contact the Tetra Customer Service on tetra.net.
Yes, the Tetra FilterJet is designed to operate quietly, making it suitable for use in living spaces without disturbing noise.
Check the water level. The motor unit should be completely submerged. Another reason for unwanted noises could be a bubble inside the rotor chamber. This often occurs after the first set-up or after cleaning. Turn the Tetra FilterJet upside down below water level to release the bubble.
The package of Tetra FilterJet contains two types of filter foams. The newly added fine foam is designed for fast cleaning after tank set up. The second coarse foam is made for permanent use.
No, the FilterJet does not contain activated carbon.
Yes, the Tetra FilterJet can be used in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
Yes, Tetra always offers a warranty on technical products. The warranty period for the FilterJet is two years.
The filter sponge should be cleaned w hen it becomes clogged with dirt particles, which reduces the flow rate. In this case, the filter sponge should be rinsed out. Ideally, it should be rinsed with aquarium water to avoid damaging the beneficial filter bacteria that reside on the substrates.
Depending on the water parameters, the filter sponge should be replaced approximately once a year.
The oxygen supply must be adjusted so that an optimal oxygen balance can be achieved. It is important to ensure that the water, especially at the surface, is always in motion. Oxygen bubbles also indicate sufficient aeration through the venturi valve.
The outlet nozzle must be adjusted according to the position of the filter in the aquarium so that it can circulate all the water in the aquarium. It is particularly important that the water surface is always in motion to prevent the formation of a so-called biofilm (a combination of bacteria and dirt particles).
Installing an internal filter requires significantly less effort than installing an external filter. By placing the filter directly in the aquarium, easy access for cleaning or changing filter media is possible. In contrast, with an external filter, various filter materials must be individually cleaned after opening the filter. To clean an external filter, it must also be taken out of operation. Additionally, compared to an external filter, no cabinet is needed for storage.
No, the filter has an integrated oxygen supply thanks to its venturi valve.
Yes, this filter is also ideal for tanks with aquatic turtles.
Yes, this particular filter is especially suitable for fry, shrimp offspring, and dwarf shrimp. Its fine pre-filter prevents living organisms from entering the filter.
No, a heater does not fit inside the filter and is not included in the package
Every filter should operate continuously so that essential filtration biology can develop to clean the water. Pumps are therefore designed for continuous operation and their energy efficiency optimized accordingly.
The lowest point of the foam should be at least 3 cm above the substrate; otherwise, suction area and thus performance of the filter will decrease.
